Art

At North Star 180, our art curriculum is carefully designed to engage, inspire, and challenge students, equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to experiment, invent, and create their own works of art, craft, and design.

At North Star 180°, we believe that art is a form of expression.

We integrate art into our humanities topics, allowing children to fully express themselves within each theme, enhancing their engagement and deepening their understanding.

Throughout the year, students will create diverse artwork using mediums like sketching, sculpting, painting, shading, and collage. This leads to the acquisition of art and design techniques such as colour, pattern, texture, line, shape, form, and space.

As they advance, they will develop critical thinking and evaluative skills, enabling them to assess both their own and their peers’ artwork.

In Key Stage 1, students will use materials creatively to design and make products, while also using drawing, painting, and sculpture to develop and share their ideas, experiences and imagination.

In Key Stage 2, students will demonstrate mastery of art and design techniques. They will learn about the work of various artists, craft makers, and designers, and begin to make connections to their own work.
